brew coffee in an auto drip machine
about the method
this is a great way to make coffee at home with the equipment you probably already have. grinding per brew and paying attention to grind size, brew ratio, and water (and using a well-roasted bean) can make all the difference. this is how we would brew our coffee using an auto drip machine.
basics
whatever auto drip machine you may have at home, you can still make well-extracted coffee with a few basic principles.
we like to brew our coffee at either a 16:1 water to coffee ratio for a bit of a stronger ratio, or a 17:1, depending on our preference and the coffee. just make sure you know how much water you are putting in the machine for the brew, and figure out the grams of coffee accordingly. it’s still important to have a scale for this method.
it’s also still extremely helpful to use good coffee water, or at least filtered water, in this method.
a medium grind-size will work well for this, whether it’s a flat bottom dripper or a cone dripper. if you find the coffee tasting weak or sour, maybe grind a little finer. if you find the coffee tasting bitter or too strong, grind a little coarser.
follow the normal instructions for your machine, and enjoy!
